Action Plan

 Our class at a glance: This diverse dance class will create a safe space for all students to learn to express themselves through movement. They will build meaningful friendships and foster confidence through encouragement, group activity, kindness, and respect

Beliefs: mutual respect, encouragement, high behavioral standard, kindness, creating a safe, accepting space where all students feel seen and heard.

One rule: kindness

Schedule: 

8;00-8;02come into classroom and get into their spots/lines
8:02-8:10Guided warmup
8.10-8:12Get in circle for improve
8:12-8:20Improve one at a time in the center of the circle. 15-20 seconds max. per student 
8:20-8:45learn a dance combo to get comfortable with new styles of movement
8;40-8:50perform the dance combo in small groups 
8:50-8:58cool down; either meditation or gratitude circle depending on vibe of the class
8:58-9:00line up at the wall by the door to be dismissed 
9-9:15students are free to leave once their parents arive and are seen by the teacher

Procedures;

Asking questions- raise your hand when you have a question and be respecful and quiet when your classmates are talking or asking questions.

Drinking water- only water or drinks such as gaterade allowed in the dance room. Drinking water can only be done during water breaks given throughout class when needed.

Attendance- names will be called one by one; students are to remain quiet and raise their hands when their name is called

End of class/dismissal: when class is over, students will line up by the door and will remain with teacher until their parent our guardian is there to pick them up.

turning in lost items: do not take what does not belong to you. instead, turn it into a teacher for the lost and found.

talking: we will keep talking to a minimum while we are dancing. students will get to talk during our group cool down and before/after class

getting into groups: groups will be randomly selected so all students get a chance to work together and meet new people.

participation; in class and groups, students are expected to try their best and participate in our dances.

guests in the classroom; students are to respect everyone in our safe space

helping other students; teamwork and respect are very important in this class.
