Ideal Dance Studio

The process of having original ideas that have value are essential in creativity and in education. This aspect of divergent should be promoted in education as it helps students help themselves. with this skill set, students are set up for lifelong success in their future careers where thinking critically and creatively are imperative.  My ideal studio would be one where all students feel safe and cared for. I have had both kind teachers and discouraging teachers, so I want every student to feel confident and uplifted. My studio would emphasize building a community, so no student fears judgement and is instead encouraged to take risks. I would consider all forms of dance equally important, as I have seen a decline in tap in our local dance community. This studio would have proper marley floor.

Teaching, coaching, mentoring.

My perfect dance studio would encourage movement. I want each student to feel like they are comfortable and learning the way that they want. For example, if a student needs to write down the dance moves to remember or wants to create their own dance then I will allow that. If they feel emotions that they need to express and my dance doesn’t do that for them and they need to create their own then I will allow them the space to fulfill those needs. I want a happy studio with lots of light and encouraging vibes. I want it to be multipurpose and have a lot of variety. I want it to be tailored to my students and what they want. Since our classes are going to be smaller and is already more specific, our students already get the mentor experience. We would want to create a teachign environment so that the kids feel more free to make mistakes and its not as serious. If I feel like my students are stressed I will incorporate time for meditation because without a clear mind, they won’t be able t...

Teaching philosophy statement

As a teacher I am dedicated to forming an inclusive and creative educational safe space for students to make close relationships. This will allow them to feel comfortable and reach their full potential by experimenting in the arts without fear of failure or judgement. In doing so, I share my enthusiasm for dance and pass this on to them, encouraging them to participate in lifelong learning beyond the walls of the classroom. By emphasizing creativity, students are taught to think from different perspectives. Strategies such as group work allow students to build a community, cooperate, and engage with each other
